Strengthening the Rights, Safety & Health of Women and Girls

Pathways to Change strengthens the rights, safety and wellbeing of women and girls by improving SRHR access, preventing and responding to violence, and building resilient communities, education and health systems.

We work across South Africa in contexts where women and girls face heightened vulnerability due to rural isolation, poverty, stigma or limited access to services.

We recognise that environmental pressures and limited access to natural resources can disproportionately affect rural women and girls, shaping their SRHR needs, livelihood opportunities and exposure to violence.

Women and girls

Empowering girls and women to claim their rights, access quality healthcare, and live free from violence in communities that honour their dignity and choices.

Adolescent girls and young women

Supporting adolescent girls and young women through critical life transitions with trusted resources, peer networks, and the skills to shape their own futures.

Women in rural areas

Reaching women in rural areas with essential services, opportunities, and community support that breaks isolation and builds lasting resilience.

Women with disabilities

Ensuring women with disabilities receive accessible, dignified care and full inclusion in programmes that recognize their unique strengths & lived experiences

LBTQI+ women

Creating safe spaces where LBTQI+ women access affirming healthcare, find community solidarity & live authentically without fear of stigma or discrimination.

Older Women

Honouring older women as vital community leaders while ensuring they maintain access to health services, safety networks, and respect throughout their lives.

Intimate partner violence

Walking alongside survivors of intimate partner violence with trauma-informed support, safe referral pathways, and compassionate care that restores agency and rebuilding.

Survivors of sexual violence

Supporting survivors of sexual violence with dignified, survivor-centered services, psychosocial care, and navigation support that honors their courage and healing journey.
