The organization focuses on health systems strengthening for effective service provision.
To create pathways for sustainable social change that empowers South Africans to live a healthy productive life.
Pathways to Change works with vulnerable communities and target populations, government departments and various stakeholders to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights in communities around South Africa. We have been providing services for health systems strengthening since 2001 and supported programs in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Northern Cape, North-West, Free State and Western Cape provinces.
Pathways to Change is a resourceful and innovative non-profit organization with a mission to educate and empower South Africans to make responsible life choices by facilitating implementation of interventions that are evidence informed and rights-based.
Crosscutting themes that underpin Pathways to Change Interventions
Adolescents and youth (10-24 years) have the right to live healthy sexual and reproductive lives. However, many adolescents and youth lack the information, skills, agency, and access to services that enable them to fulfill that right.
Strengthen primary health care clinics and community health workers so more people in more places have access to the contraceptive information and services they need.
Deliver comprehensive care for adolescents and young people living HIV and their families at times and locations that are convenient to them.
The programme is intended to empower young people to pass knowledge and skills on to their peers who come from similar backgrounds and are experiencing similar life challenges.
Together with various partners, Pathways to Change improves community knowledge of the links between human and ecosystem health and the relevance of rights-based family planning as contributing to environmental sustainability.
Focused on capacity building of communities and health systems to enable free and early access to safe abortion services in the Eastern and Western Cape Provinces.
Ensuring that myths, taboos, and stigma around menstruation are addressed by providing women, girls, men, and boys access to information on menstruation.
